Cliff Brown

Started playing guitar aged 14, formed his 1st band in the 60’s while still at school Mayflower comprehensive Billericay Essex, 1st band was called The Seltaebs, moved to Laindon Essex and formed several rock and blues bands with local musicians, formed local band Muscle in early 70’s playing pubs and clubs, notable being resident at the Railway Pitsea (flying bottle) during the coaching and beano years. During the 70’s joined local young band Bonum Sonus playing many pubs and clubs in Essex, for several years Bonum Sonus enjoyed relative success, Bonum Sonus then changed some members and re-emerged as The Lord Toffingham Band, this band continued for several years again with relative local success, this band then folded in the mid 80’s when cliff decided to move to Suffolk. Once in Suffolk Cliff formed a band called Quartz with Fred Rayner and Tony Mumford current members of Lord Lucan, Cliff left to pursue other interests and in 1993 formed the band Oxygen with Fred Rayner once again and Lucy Woodgate, Lucy later being replaced by Apryl Eley, this band enjoyed success once again doing local pubs, clubs, holiday camps and private functions. The band disbanded when Apryl left to pursue a solo career, Cliff then formed the highly successful Galaxy Disco Roadshow with his son Darren, this ended when Darren finished his degree and started work in the city, Cliff then hung up his guitar until 2007, at this time he had met Steve Hale and they formed The Lord Lucan Band (named after Steve’s nickname from being the steward at a local club because he never seemed to be there) once again Cliff brought in Fred Rayner and previous drummer Tony Mumford, this reunion after 20 years since they played together, with the introduction of Richard Stocker on lead guitar (Cliffs son-in-law) The Lord Lucan Band was formed.

Cliffs biggest claim to fame was being on Richard and Judy after getting a pen top stuck in his ear while being in the band Oxygen, this led to massive press and television coverage. To be continued…
