Fred Rayner ~ Bass

Fred Rayner

When I was 12 I sang in a choir at St Thomas's church in Dagenham Essex, the organist was then a young Dudley Moore.

At 16 I joined Dagenham Silver Band playing the cornet, then I learned to play the banjo and played in skiffle groups and New Orleans jazz bands.

In 1964 I moved to Suffolk, I learnt to play bass guitar and joined a few groups playing rock and roll etc, I then joined a rock group called Magenta House, after this my next group was a band from Halstead called One Way with Tony Mumford on drums.

I then met Cliff Brown and played in a band called Quartz with Tony on drums, after a few years passed I joined Cliff and Apryl in a group called Oxygen, a few years passed then Cliff asked me to join the Lord Lucan Band.

My aim is to be the oldest rock bass guitarist in Suffolk!
